Last weekend saw Manchester’s Albert Hall undergo its Bollywood makeover, for the much anticipated 2 day Elrow takeover.
We opted to attend go on the Saturday and in true Elrow fashion, the Albert Hall was fittingly decked out from head to toe with Bollywood themed decorations, an endless supply of obscure props and inflatables and Partygoers covered in endless supplies of glitter.
As with most UK Elrow events, the line-up was only unveiled a week or so before, with secret special gues,t Jackmaster, only being announced on the day.
Arriving just before the stipulated last entry, on arrival we could hear the unmistakable beats of Robert James, who blasted out a heady mix of disco in amongst house classics.
Next up was special guest, Jackmaster. The boisterous crowd were treated to two and a half hours of house hedonism as he dropped acid house classics alongside smooth deep house and jacking grooves. It really was a ‘you were there’ moment and every drop punctuated with confetti canyons in abundance to really take the spectacle to the next level.
Closing proceedings was Elrow favourite, Bastian Bux. He kept the party going with infectious grooves as his legendary ambience and techy vibes kicked the crowd into high gear.
After 10 hours of dirty drops and unstoppable entertainment provided by five righteous DJs, the Bollywood themed fiesta came to an unwanted end. It is fair to say that an Elrow party completely differentiates itself from any other rave or event. It’s an experience, where colour, spectacle and atmosphere all come together to create a unique and unrepeatable celebration. They sure know how to put the fun back into the party, which is important as the rave scene can be taken a little too seriously nowadays.
By the look on everyone’s faces and general ambience of the night, Elrow really pulled it out the bag. We really wish we’d gone again on Sunday!
