Quentin Hiatus brings his signature sound – that is, a Martian take on drum & bass – to none60 on a rare outing from his own Free Love Digi imprint, and the results are just as large as you would expect.
Kicking off with the soaring ‘Clever Girl’, classic drums and breaks keeping sky-high synths in check for a record that will stay in your head indefinitely – there’s a reason king of this sound High Contrast described the track as “beautiful, hypnotic and fresh”.
Flip it over and there’s darkness and tightly packed drums skittering and jumping in a neuro-referencing whirlwind, although the sound is restrained power rather than face punching basslines and banshee squeals.
