Hi Publika. How have you been?
Thank you for having us! It was a challenging time for all of us, but we tried to stay focus on our music and to work in the studio for new material.
You come from Romania. Tell us your story so far.
Since 2008, Publika is recognized in Romania as a band with British musical influences. I think the UK represents art, music and fashion worldwide and I was influenced by all these things since childhood. It has been an opportunity for me to make a big step, so I moved to the UK to feel my music even better.
Really liked your latest single ‘Falling’. How was the recording and writing process?
Falling was written during my depression time, some while ago. The lyrics flew easily because I could feel them, and I was inspired by what was happening to me… The final mastering of the single was made here in the UK, in London studio.
What do you find inspiring when you are writing your songs?
I can not tell you .. 🙂
Your music video is ace. What’s the story behind the video?
The video was recorded in two countries, in Romania and the UK. Because of coronavirus, we had to improvise therefore some of the shots were recorded in my backyard, here in the UK. All the scenes that you see on stage were captured during our concerts and we had to adapt to a new script. We changed a little bit the concept and this video is making a difference from the other videos we produced. We are so lucky to release Falling in these difficult moments, but we think the video is going well and we are proud of it.
Who are your favourite artists and bands? How do you incorporate their work in your sound?
Keane, Hurts, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, David Bowie …We found ourselves in their style and way of expressing their music.
What’s next? Any plans for a new single or a live gig?
We hope to be ready in October with the new single, the name of the song will likely to be “YOU”. A live gig will be more than welcomed… who knows when this it will be possible again…
Do you have a special message for your fans?
We love and thank our fans for being supportive and we hope to see them live soon. Till then. stay safe!
