Event Preview: Warehouse Project Opening Weekend

This weekend sees the much anticipated return of Manchester’s iconic Warehouse Project and we literally cannot wait!

On Friday September 23rd the WHP16 season kicks off back beneath the streets with a hand picked lineup featuring an exciting bill of live acts & djs, many of whom will make their Store Street debut. Global superstar and outspoken rapper M.I.A. will headline the show, joined by the original Reggae selector and soundclash champion David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan. Following their incredible live performance at the end of the WHP15 series, XL Recordings’ Jungle return for one night only – this time playing a DJ set. The grime scene continues to go from strength to strength and two of its most exciting underground talents – Section Boyz and Novelist – will be appearing. Finally, Mura Masa will be making his debut at Store Street; definitely one to watch after his live performance on the WHP Stage at Sónar By Night in Barcelona earlier this summer.

On Saturday 24th September is the muchly anticipated Welcome To The Warehouse – a day & night marathon of house & techno.This lineup features some of the scenes biggest techno heavyweights (and not to mention Noise Gate favourites), Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, and Eats Everything, in a rare outing on the same bill. As well as this, several of the most well respected selectors in the business will be appearing: Ben UFO, San Proper, Jasper James, WHP residents Krysko & Greg Lord, and NTS Radio’s MoxieFatima Yamaha makes his live debut at Store Street, along side synth wizard Matthew Dear. Manchester locals Lauren Lo Sung, Hackett and the Zutekh DJs stand in support.

Saturday October 29th – Elrow Day & Night

Barcelona’s Elrow night is flying into Manchester for a truly international Halloween special. Spanish techno selectors Toni Varga and Marc Maya are set to be joined by the cream of the UK house scene, with notorious party starters Eats Everything and Skream dropping their crowd pleasing mix of bass heavy house and disco tinged techno. Meanwhile German duo Pan-Pot can be relied on to takie the crowd on a sonic journey, moving from deep, intricate head music to floor filling techno anthems. Earlier, capable support comes from Bastian Bux, Robert James, Lukas, Adam Shelton, Tom Craven and Krysko, exploring the many dimensions of quality underground house and techno.


Saturday 12th November – Drumcode

Swedish techno label Drumcode and its founder Adam Beyer make Store Street, Manchester their home for 12 hours. Managed by headliner on the night Adam Beyer, the label has played host to a myriad of phenomenal techno DJs and producers over the years, and they are no stranger to throwing a party. On November 12th, label boss Beyer will be joined by legends of the scene Green Velvet, Scuba and Alan Fitzpatrick among others.


Friday 2nd December – ANTS

Groove Armada come with a history of multiple chart hits, and a reputation as DJs who can effortlessly switch between disco, house, soul and techno, taking the crowd with them wherever they choose to go. They’re headlining a bill that covers all shades of house, from Kölsch’s intricately layered melodies, to Waze & Odyssey’s RnB infused bass heavy bangers. Dutchman Joris Voorn brings his cyclic, synth heavy techno to proceedings, while Andrea Oliva mixes up everything from dirty Chicago influenced jack tracks, to dense Detroit techno. Eli Fur, Francisco Allendes, Lauren Lo Sung, Krysko and Austen/Scott round out the event in style.
