Italian house label, Pump Music Records, is preparing for the release of a brand new EP by co-founder, PParis (Paolo Paris), AKA Mechanical Melodies.
The EP is due for release on October 20th and features two original tracks by PParis – ‘No Beach’ and ‘Summer’ – along with remixes of both titles by fellow Italian and Pump Music stalwart, Kenny Bizzarro, AKA Manolo Giuliani.
Pre-release support for the EP has been extensive, with its diverse complement sounds appealing to an assortment of scenes and helping it find a place in the sets of Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Funkagenda, Markus Schulz, Ismael Rivas, Benji Candelerio, Adam Helder and Phil Soren, among many others.
Track 1, ‘No Beach’, brings a solid, charismatic beat complemented by rhythmic keys and triggered vocal, which come together with a charming old school vibe. The second track, ‘Summer’, lives up the name of the label with more of a pumping groove, carried along by a fresh set of keys and vocals that nonetheless share the same rhythmic qualities as those in ‘No Beach’, something of a trademark for PParis.
On remix duties, Kenny Bizzarro reinterprets the two tracks with an entirely new vibe, while retaining the key qualities of each record’s most characteristic sounds. His jazz & soul influences shine through, however, the drums and bass remain as bold as those heard in the originals.
The EP will be the eleventh release by Pump Music Records since its formation just over a year ago by PParis, whose roots in the Italian house music scene go all the way back to 1988 and gigs at Open Gate and Cyborg in Rome. He is well known for tribal house cuts such as ‘Arabian Wind’ and for establishing LIFE in Ciociaria, Italy, which supported emerging local artists including Alex Dolby.
