On 30th November Nambucca and Drum and Monkey present a night of Hungarian Electronica with headline act Žagar and support from electronic/downtempo newcomers Belau.
Žagar are one of the most significant bands to come out of the burgeoning Eastern European electronica scene. The five piece have received staunch support from the likes of BBC 6Music’s Don Letts, Amazing Radio and Future Music, whilst also being nominated for ‘Best Hungarian Act’ at the MTV European Music Awards following the success of their hit single ‘Wings of Love’. Zagar garnered interest from key players in the electronic music scene such as Terry Lee Brown, Jr., Moonbootica and Vakula whom provided remixes of some of their most iconic singles.
The five-piece band are making an impact with their psychedelic gigs. Their live sound is a mixture of dub, space rock and techno elements, creating a unique blend that caught the eye of electronica heavyweights Depeche Mode, securing them a support slot on the Budapest leg of their ‘Universe’ tour. Alan Mcgee of Creation says of their front man – “Zsager is a cool guy, but on the stage he becomes fucking nuts!”
Support act Belau are one of the most promising electronic newcomers to come out of Hungary. Their debut single ‘Island of Promise’, a beautifully emotive pop song, was in Deezer Hungary’s ‘Top Hits of 2015’ and appeared in HBO’s TV series ‘Aranyelet’. After a busy summer of nearly 40 live performances and with their debut album ‘Odyssey’ set for release in November the band are ready to continue their journey and smash it in London.
With two of the most exciting exports from Hungary, Zagar and Belau in the lineup, this show is set to make waves in London on 30th November, be sure not to miss it.
