Holed up in the basement of their Ancoats studio haunt Wellington Mill with a stack of techy lights, projectors, engineers, camera guys, lots of Kinder chocolate and a hired-for-the-day mobility scooter (because, let’s face it, what video shoot is complete without one?), for their new video Levelz combined a long day of filming with a blow-out clubnight at Northern Quarter venue the Roadhouse.

Whilst the aforementioned mobility scooter probably got a lot of use in securing some inevitably tight-looking tracking shots, for the most part we only observed it being ridden around by Skittles – with the exuberance of a child to whom Christmas has just come early.

With the Roadhouse due to close in order to transform into a top-drawer restaurant for Aumbry chef Mary-Ellen McTague, promoters have been milking their “last night at The Roadhouse” events with success since the initial announcement was made back in February. Striking into the hearts of the city’s revellers and offering them the chance to feature in the group’s next video ensured a sold-out venue on the night.

This weekend just gone the collective threw another rave at the Oldham street venue Mint Lounge, which once upon a time regularly played home to Rich Reason’s Hit & Run clubnight. Going wild as per usual, the night went off with Mouse Outfit emcee Sparkz performing bits from his new, self-produced Angles triptych with backing from his Voodoo Black crew member DJ Cutterz, and lively performances of tracks including #LVL07 and #LVL09.

We were there and got some exclusive footage of the event. Watch the Noise Gate TV clip below to see a live performance of their as-yet unreleased track #LVL09. (Spoiler – there’s bare stage dives and that!)
