Going from strength to strength is man of the moment Leon Vynehall, who did quite the clever trick back in March… not only did he bring out an album ‘Music for the Uninvited’, which has rightly received rave reviews (no pun intended), but his FACT mix from earlier in the month had some tracks (one in particular) that were, at the time, unreleased and unknown. It was these tracks that people started going mad for, what were they? Could anyone find them? It’s summer, we need them! Speculation grew and grew, you started to hear them at festivals and at clubs, still the public were yet to be gifted them in a tangible form.
It wasn’t until last month that the man himself released a snippet of a new two track release on the underground and very well respected Royal Oak Series, who already have put their name to a string of well known and heavily lauded works from artists including Space Dimension Controller, Danny Daze, Gerd, Daniel Avery and the infamous Genius Of Time, plus a whole heap more.
This again seemed to be a smart decision, and lo and behold what were the tracks? Ahhhhhhh we finally found that gem! Leon brought out ‘Butterflies / This Is The Place’ and people have been going nuts for it. ‘Butterflies’ is just pure love all over, the piano rifts along with that golden tempo just speak of the good moments this summer has brought us all, one of my favourite tracks this year thus far! ‘This Is The Place’ is definitely not just a B-Side filler either, it’s loftier and highlights some of Vynehall’s influences with samples throughout and spacey thumping production.
You can see the man in Manchester on the opening night at the Warehouse Project – Welcome to The Warehouse, alongside Ben UFO & Pearson Sound, Carl Craig, Seth Troxler and Jackmaster amongst others. Check out the SoundCloud preview below and pick up your copy of the release here.
