Enigmatic producers Prayer and Coop come together as Kollaps, delivering the inaugural vinyl release for art collective Grade 10.
The majority of the Grade 10 collective, comprised of members Kollaps, Classic Coke, ForeverForever, 8Ball, LooseWomen, Nokia Boys, Prayer and Unslaved, were formerly a part of Zomby’s Cult Music label. Aiming to present an “uncompromising vision for the future of electronic music”, their first release definitely hits the spot for us here at TNG.
Aiming to push the boundaries of electronic composition, on Grade 10’s first release Kollaps pool their respective talents to deliver a production that borrows from both classical composition and the sounds of iconic electronica. Mixing up dreamy, synth-filled soundscapes with soulful r&b vocals and melodics; notable echoes of Max Richter, Philip Glass, Aphex Twin and Burial can be heard throughout.
Also appearing on the release is one of grime’s most exciting prospects, ForeverForever, who melted our hearts with his delicious track Playfights last year. This time stepping up to the plate on remix duties, his interpretation of B cut Could This Be is stamped with the producers’ trademark grime-infused melodies.
Grade 10 will be also taking over the airwaves of Radar Radio this Sunday (May 10th) for a four-hour special between 6pm-10pm. Listen to a preview of the GTI001 EP below and pick up a copy for yourself here.
