The UK’s hottest vintage extravaganza Kent based Jazz and cabaret act Miss Kiddy and the Cads are hosting a socially diatanced performance of their debut album ‘Vintage Dirtbag’ on their very own driveway. The sextet will be performing a full one hour set live from their lead singers’ home in Whitstable, Kent.
With the nation on lockdown, Miss Kiddy, whose real name is Abi Gilchrist, knew only too well that they had to do something to cheer their fans up.
‘It will feel strange to be dressed up in vintage glitz and glamour with bright red lips and stilettos on my own driveway, but we’ll feel the buzz through the screen from everyone who is joining us. In a time where we all feel so helpless, music really can get us through,’ Abi says.
The spectacular Miss Kiddy and the Cads were launched in 2016 by session singer Abi Gilchrist who may be better known for singing the theme tune to CBeebies’ show Do You Know? Performing to a sell-out crowd at their first gig in London’s Pheasantry Jazz Club. Currently making waves across the jazz scene, it’s been a rapid rise for the sextet, which has led to them performing on ITV’s This Morning and Loose Women. With show-stopping vocals, authentic costumes, a stunning tap dancer and full 1940s decadence, Miss Kiddy and the Cads really are a unique talent.
Creator Abi Gilchrist says: ‘We are so proud of the album we have created. We like to think of ourselves not just as a band, but as a wholly immersive experience that crosses over into jazz, cabaret, comedy and vintage. I am also very lucky to work with such a talented group of people. Ben (Cummings) our trumpet player also plays in Caro Emerald’s band, our drummer Andy (Jones) is a music producer who produced the latest Squeeze album and our MD and pianist / song -arranger Ross (Power) is an award-winning composer and producer for TV and film. We also have The Undertaker on bass Eric (Guy) and Lil’ Missy our famous tap dancer, Leah (Wise)’.
