Kaua – ‘Free Flow’ EP

Denver, Colorado-based 5 and Dime Recordings has today released the ‘Free Flow’ EP by multidisciplined Japanese producer, Kaua, who has experimented with dub and electronica before arriving at the house sound that influences his latest work.

Offering an array of styles, from deep and tech house to breaks, the EP is not short off an LP really, with a whopping six tracks in total – two originals (the title track plus ‘Sinking Slowly’) – and a remix of each track by Californian deep house maestro, Zuko, and London DJ/producer, Stefan Cordery, a regular on the vibrant East End warehouse party scene. Perhaps best known for his house productions, Cordery has taken a step in breakbeat territory to help make this one of the most diverse EPs in recent months.

“The EP features a variety of styles and moods, with each track designed for the selective listener,” says Lauren Solefield for 5 and Dime. “Kaua presents his carefully crafted minimal grooves with the deep and drifting ‘Sinking Slowly’, while showcasing a light, lush soundscape on ‘Free Flow’.

“The remixes expand on these distinctive elements, providing unique perspectives and lasting impressions,” Lauren continues. “The Zuko remix of ‘Sinking Slowly’ features a rolling beat and beautiful bells, while the Stefan Cordery remix gets darker with more electronic elements and a killer breakdown.

“’Free Flow’ receives its progressive treatment with the Zuko Remix, the combination of solid beat and light samples creating a balanced groove you will get lost in. Stefan Cordery’s remix of ‘Free Flow’ takes you on a hypnotic trip with elegantly crafted breaks and a deep flowing bassline,” she concludes.
