Whilst Bloc has been gearing up to the launch of their new label, we have had their first release – a synth-drenched, two track EP from Jake Chudnow – pretty much on repeat.
The double A side 12” release features a virtuoso ‘Prelude to Shona’ alongside the surging, exultant and blissed-out anthem that is ‘Shona’ itself – familiar to many, having soundtracked the resurgence of the weekend revellers and featured in all of their recent promo videos. The ‘Prelude’ opens with a beat-less, ambient exploration of issues that remain unresolved until the record launches into the enigmatic ‘Shona’ itself.
