Hudson Mohawke’s LuckyMe label have just announced they’ll be throwing a free show in London next Tuesday (May 5th) at Corsica Studios.
Tickets for the event are limited and only available digitally. The party will celebrate the launch of newly-signed Glaswegian group NAKED’s debut EP Youth Mode, with plans already in the pipeline for a second single and a full length project in the new year.
The group, formed of Agnes Gryczkowska, Alex Johnston and Grant Campbell, blend together neon-lit programmed 808, glacial bass and minimalist guitar with hypnotizing and ephemeral vocals; reaching out to emotionally-distant Gen Y’s too busy staring into their iPhones and Androids to register with their surrounding humanoids.
On the Youth Mode project NAKED have concerned themselves with exploring “the interaction of accelerating technology and the inherent sense of a terminal decline in emotion, physicality and love: about the relationship between man and machine, our bodies, senses and the industrial substances and digital technologies” through their music. This may be the closest thing to socially-conscious electronica we’ve currently got.
NAKED will play a live set with support from S-Type, Joseph Marinetti, Inkke and The Blessings. Check the debut single from the EP below and head to nake.dk/ to get your hands on a free ticket, which also comes with a free download of Lie Follows Lie plus a flyer, a portrait of the group and a deeper explanation of their musical ethos.
