London’s fresh new underground house night, Giant, is to return for it’s second event later this month, after a hugely successful launch party in October, which sold out completely in advance.
Giant, run by veteran London DJs Stuart Patterson and Tim Keenoy – known for staging The Date parties to the west of the city, which have hosted the likes of Kerri Chandler and Horse Meat Disco – will once again take over two floors of Peckham’s post-industrial, multi-levelled concrete warehouse space, The Bussey Building, cited by Time Out this year as: “simply one of London’s best venues.”
From 10pm on Friday, November 22nd, all the way through until 6am on the 23rd, Patterson & Keenoy will rock the historical building with the help of headliners Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson (known as the man behind the sound of the Tomb Raider series of games, among others, and for recent collaborations with the likes of Fred Everything and Clara Hill) and illustrious German DJ, producer and prominent remixer, Rainer Trüby, whose preview mix for the event you can find on the soundcloud player at the end of this post.
This time, however, the Giant camp are switching rooms to let legendary London party institution, Lowlife, take over the top floor, with its access to the 5,000 square-foot rooftop and panoramic views of the Big Smoke. Lowlife, which has been holding some of London’s finest underground parties for many years, is bringing yet another set of 4/4 old hands in the form of Bill Brewster, Michael Cook and Ray Mang, to deliver their own unique take on disco, past and present.
You won’t find any yoofs behind the decks here – this lot have dropped the needle more times than a Wurlitzer. I’m sure they’d prefer it if I didn’t calculate their combined age, but let’s just say that it’s highly unlikely there will be a party thrown by a more experienced crew anywhere else in London that weekend.
