We’ve got a handful of free tracks for you to tuck into right here as we bring you the highlights of what’s knocking about for free this week. Not always necessarily ‘by the book’ we try and mix it up a bit to offer a little something to everyone as well as giving some up-and-comers a spot of exposure.
Pick of the bunch goes to Diavlo, one of our fave producers at the minute. The latter half of Ant Brooks and Diavlo chips in with a free download of his track ‘Tres’. With releases on the likes of Toolroom, Great Stuff and Material, this is no bedroom DJ with a bootleg copy of Fruit Loops, this is a guy with pedigree and a talent for crafting authentic groove-heavy house.
‘I’ll Do It’ is a free little jam from Luxx UK. Sounding freakishly reminiscent of Nudisco’s quality yet snareless ‘Achtung Gefahrengebiet’ with its slurring bass wobbles the track is a crunchy little mover considering its up for grabs free of charge. Nothing particularly groundbreaking but bang in key with the more commercial sounds around about now. The type of thing Deep House Dave will no doubt have on repeat as he smashes out his daily squat thrusts.
Argentine DJ/Producer Lolu Menayed (pictured) offers up a stripped-back, minimal groove by the name of ‘Raw Underground’ and there isn’t really much more you can about that! A definite Latin American vibe infused in an ever-so-simple yet effective cut – so much is felt despite so little being ‘said’.
A jerky, stuttering future garage track up next with Bruva’s ‘After You’. It would definitely benefit from a bit more intricacy or reverb in and around the razor-sharp drum patterns but plenty of atmosphere and tension in this moody, minimal subber.
Now for a bit of a joke. Or is it? For a track that kicks off with the infamous Sega load-out sound, something a little more credible, melodic and funky arises from Napoleon’s ‘Sherwood Zone’. An electronic, disco, Sonic-but-for-the-PS4-sounding groove which is as emersing as it is ridiculous.
Smooth melodic drum and bass from Ow3s with ‘Closing My Eyes’ to mix it up. Not so much club-orientated but a good tune to go sit in a room and feel sorry for yourself to. In the best possible way of course.
Another name with an unnecessary ‘3’ chucked in is Maa3’s ‘Funk Town’. A pretty cheap and cheesy take at the kind of bottom-heavy deep house that isn’t really all that deep. It’s a catchy if limited, little downtempo effort from the young Bristolian.
