Spoilt for choice this week – as the global output of free, electronic music is reaching peak level we bring you no less than 7 tracks that you’d happily splash cash on and there could easily have been more this time around. No excuses not to get these downloaded.
Montrealeans (TNG’s exclusive new word) Prince Club get the ball rolling with ‘What is House’. Their crowd-pleasing brand of swagger house has already garnered support from industry fat cats like Mark Knight, Claude von Stroke, Brodinski, Joris Voorn, Thomas Schumacher… the list is endless, their CV impressive. A smooth yet lively look at that age-old poser, What is House is top of this week’s impressive bill.
The prolific but somehow unsigned Xander Milne shares his ‘Truly Effective’ mix of ‘Judgement’. A summery, tech house beat with delicate chord work and a subtle, well-placed vocal sample.
A bit of big and bossy techno now from Fractal System vs. Sanka in ‘Make Me Feel’. A bit raw, in an uncooked, almost naive sense, but loaded with an energy that forces you to take it serious!
Majora chip in with a swelling bass-encrusted ‘house tempo’, future garage whatever you call, it track called ‘Zebra’ which is bang on trend.
A bit of mellow, melodic dubstep next with Hitman’s remix of ‘DJ’ by RDG. A light and breezy, uplifting cut for those solitary moments of deep thought.
Back to a more ‘mersh sound of club-ready deep house courtesy of Matt Thomas’ ‘Oh My’. No new ground covered but a credible take on the sound that’s dominated this latest incarnation of the popular genre.
A trip to the darker side of things now to round off this seven-track selection of free consumables. Dert Cheep & Demarco Cruz have put ‘Get Money’ up for grabs, ironically, for no money. While you can question the logic of a Get Money free track, you can’t fault this little jackin’ slice of bass.
