Détaché – ‘Thrue Feelings’

‘Thrue Feelings’ is the first piece of music that talented young Dutch producer, Détaché, has generously decided to give away, although we have noticed it’s also for sale on Beatport (under Détaché’s other moniker, Jellesound) and there’s a hint that it might not remain free for very long, so don’t waste any time in downloading if you want to get your hands on a copy without having to shell out for it.

That being said, it’s always a virtuous decision to pay artists for their music, particularly when it’s worth paying for, which is certainly true in this case – ‘Thrue Feelings’ is an extraordinarily unique and exhilarating piece of electronic music. It’s a heady trip down a tunnel of voltaic industrial sounds, with a mixed bag of dark synth stabs and atmospheric effects, all underpinned by a foreboding bassline. Drums are minimal, but only in terms of their depth and level in the mix. The same cannot be said for the variety and incidence of percussion, which, at times, takes over from bass as the driving force behind the track.

We’re not going to try and pin a specific genre on this one because, as is often the case, it wouldn’t be very helpful or fair to do so. Beatport calls it techno, Détaché tags it on Soundcloud simply as “deep”. We’ll settle for calling it noise of the most excellent variety…
