As part of their pre-festival hype machine, Dekmantel have announced a new series of videos showing us a personal side to some of the artists set to feature at the Amsterdam event in August. If you’re not familiar with the festival, set in a forest on the outskirts of the Dutch capital and boasting a lineup featuring the likes of DJ Koze, Bicep, Ben Klock, Efdemin and scores more, then check out our more in-depth preview.
Some of the names set to feature in the vignettes include Ben UFO, DJ Harvey and Mr. Ties. The ‘Sole Selectors’ series kicks off with Amsterdam resident Antal. A DJ with a diverse and versatile style, he talks us through his connection to house music, his passion as a crate digger and DJ and as a champion of vinyl and the record store – he himself the proprietor of Amsterdam’s acclaimed Rush Hour shop.

In describing the series, Dekmantel say:
“Every country and every city has its musical heroes. Locals who live for music and spend most of their time behind the turntables or in the record store, always digging for that one special record to complete their five-star collection.
“These exceptional and passionate DJs have set an example for many and have even been the reason to start playing tunes as well for some.
“These DJs have an amazing story to tell. What does music exactly mean to them? What has this passion brought them and what has it cost them? What is their perspective on life and how are they perceived by the people next to them?”
