2014 is a big year for iconic label Defected Records as they celebrate 15 years at the forefront of house music. The first party of this special year is the latest installment of In The House on the 8th of February at the Ministry of Sound.
The label that brought you classics such as Kings of Tomorrow’s ‘Finally’ as well as a swathe of hugely successful hits from the past couple of years – including Dennis Ferrer’s ‘Hey Hey’, Noir & Haze’s ‘Around’, ‘It’s You’ by FCL and Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’ – coupled with a rebranding and arrival of Defected offshoot DFTD has truly cemented their place in the high elite of electronic music imprints.
Just like their back-catalogue, February’s Defected In The House is to feature a true heavyweight of yesteryear alongside some of the current and up and coming talents in house music. Headlining is none other than TNG hero Kenny Dope, one half of ‘90s garage/house rhythm factory Masters at Work. A true pioneer, Kenny is one of the most respected figures in the history of the house movement.
If that wasn’t enough, he’s backed up by Flashmob, the Italian duo behind ‘Need in Me’ and ‘Ninety Five’ as well as Mark Fanciulli, the man responsible for tracks like ‘Sacrifice’ and his latest release ‘The Light’. Also on the line-up is label founder Simon Dunmore and Sam Divine who after 2013 has earned her slot headlining in the 103. Bristolian duo GotSome complete the line-up fresh off the back of their release ‘Bassline’. Throw all of that in the mix with one of the world’s most infamous soundsystems and you’re in for rib-rattlin’, body-jackin’ express trip to 7am and beyond.
