Clean Cut Collective – ‘Vinegar Stroke’

Bristol contingent Clean Cut Collective look destined for big things.

Despite the cheeky title, the track has got serious quality especially considering it represents the first fruit from the collaboration – though they have plenty more in the pipeline for 2014. Another in a long line of distinctive sounding Bristolian house tracks, fresh out of the West Country, we are proud to present: ‘Vinegar Stroke’.

There’s a lot going on throughout the production yet it remains crisp with each layer well defined. So much colour and energy radiates from the flitting melody that leaves an unmistakable feel-good feeling without any loss of authenticity and the construction is tight from the first beat to the last. Vocal teasers intensify the melodic vinegar strokes that pluck and pick their way through a rolling beat with plenty of brisk hi’s and a thudding bassline.

Group members Stephen Edwards and Phil Bell have been DJing together for just over a year despite having a total of 18 years DJing experience between them and currently run a ‘presents’ night at the Big Chill Bar in Bristol (sets available on Mixcloud). Stephen’s solo project Epico (AKA Ferryman) has an EP on Dirty Old Town Bristol on the 6th of January which will have more of a drum and bass and garage feel. Be sure to check it out.
