From the depths of London’s sound system culture comes the latest effort from Cid Poitier, who is back on Translation Recordings with another EP, throwing together jungle, dub and dancehall vibes.
Balanced on a near-constant stream of rumbling bass, the Deep Logic EP checks in with late-90s neurofunk on opener ‘Deep Logic’, before turning the dial towards dub on the hypnotic ‘Kill Sound’, which keeps the tempo but little else the same.
‘Unity’ is a modern jungle and dancehall mashup, while ‘Rebel’ shifts down to 140bpm for some proper DMZ-esque dubstep sounds – heavy stuff. The EP finishes with a remix from the Untouchables, who go inwards on ‘Hear Dis’ from Cid Poitier’s Afrique EP.
