Celtronic celebrates its 18th year with a stellar line-up

Ireland’s leading electronic music festival, Celtronic, celebrates its eighteenth anniversary this summer with five days and nights of music events, film screenings, workshops, seminars, recording projects and much more at venues across the city of Derry from Wednesday June 27th  – Sunday July 1st.

For the last eighteen years, Celtronic – supported by Derry City & Strabane District Council, PRS Foundation and Arts Council NI – has showcased the biggest international artists from across the electronic music spectrum alongside the best Irish DJs, producers and live acts. This year, the festival kicks off with a massive party at one of Ireland’s finest venues, St Columbs Hall, on Wednesday June 27th with headliners DJ Seinfeld and Kornél Kovács making the trip to Derry from Sweden for the festival. The Cyclist, Bekuz and InFlux DJs complete the lineup on the opening night.

Stephen McCauley’s Electric Mainline show will broadcast live from Echo Echo Dance on Magazine St on Thursday June 28th before the action moves to Sandinos later that evening for another unmissable party with Avalon Emerson, one of the leaders of techno’s new school, Octo Octa, one of North America’s most exciting new artists and Derry’s rising superstar Or:la. 

On Friday June 29th, Echo Echo Dance Company will host an unmissable night of live electronica with performances from Rival Consoles from the amazing Erased Tapes label, Derry’s finest Ryan Vail and Elma Orkestra. Two of the biggest names in techno DVS1 and Paula Temple headline Friday night’s gathering at The Nerve Centre, Magazine St. Support acts include Aaron Thomas, Jika Jika DJs, Acid Flex, Sofia DJs.

Throughout the festival, the Celtronic Emerge programme will showcase the best up and coming artists, DJs and producers from across Ireland at city centre venues including The Guildhall Taphouse and Sandinos while Celtronicon at The Nerve Centre on Saturday 30thJune will feature a record and equipment fair, talks, seminars and live showcases and DJ sets from Culture Glitch and Movin Music Academy.

A highlight of this year’s festival will be the premiere of a collection of new music created at Celtronic Studios by Ireland’s leading electronic music star Phil Kieran and three local musicians that will be performed by the country’s Ulster Orchestra at a special event at The Glassworks, Great James Street on Saturday June 30th.

The headline event on the Saturday of Celtronic 2018 takes place at St Columbs Hall and will be headlined by two of the most significant electronic artists of the last 20 years, Roman Flügel and Steve Bug. Support comes from Underlying Form’s Darren Allen and Deep Fried Funk DJs.

The festival comes to a close on Sunday July 1st at The Guildhall with one of the most in-demand DJs in the world, Gerd Janson, New York’s finest Mister Saturday Night and local favourites, The Queen & Disco.
