Italian DJ and producer Piero Pirupa has unveiled an eccentric music video for his latest single, ‘Braindead (Heroin Kills)’.
A public service announcement for the millennial age, the comedic video for ‘Braindead (Heroin Kills)’ stars British actor Shaun Williamson, better known as legendary Eastenders character Barry Evans, who aggressively chants the track’s iconic vocals while surrounded by an assortment of drug paraphernalia. Reinforcing the anti-drugs message to the masses, the visual is an attention-grabbing yet tongue-in-cheek flick that provides the ideal accompaniment for the high-octane dance anthem.
When speaking of the video, Piero says, “I enjoyed being part of this amazing video, it was also fun being part of the actual filming albeit very briefly! Shaun Williamson and the other actors made a great performance, they were amazing and the result of the video is brilliant. I haven’t seen such a funny video for years and I hope all of you will like it too!”
Rapidly approaching 2 million Spotify streams, Piero’s single ‘Braindead (Heroin Kills)’ has received championing radio support from MistaJam who said, “The biggest clean living anti-drug dance anthem of a generation. Piero Pirupa ‘Braindead’ this is big!” on his Dance Anthems show on BBC Radio 1. Scott Mills also played Piero’s single in his Friday Party Anthems show on the station. Not stopping there, it has also generated serious dancefloor support with CamelPhat, Jamie Jones, Carl Cox and more.
Having released music on the likes of Drumcode, Crosstown Rebels, Defected, Toolroom, Relief, Desolat, Intec Digital, Repopulate Mars, Saved, Rebirth and Snatch! Records, it’s fair to say that Piero Pirupa is one of Italy’s biggest electronic exports. A champion of groove-laden rhythms and infectious vocal construction, Piero’s musical stamp falls between house and tech-house, fused together with some deep, tribal and techno vibes.
