Free Love Digi plays host to a haunting collaboration between veteran producer Thomas B and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Cassidy, who work together as Basic Biology on two new tracks for Quentin Hiatus’ imprint.
The pair were brought together through mutual friend (and Free Love Digi heavyweight) Ghast, and despite differing musical backgrounds (Cassidy started making music aged 10 and Thomas B, a drum & bass DJ since he was 16m didn’t get going until his 20s) obviously clicked.
With Megan McKay on vocal duty the production pair are on reflective form for ‘Twilight’ and ‘Sensational’ which both bear resemblances to the downtempo sounds of artists like Phaeleh while still floating around the spacey half-time drum & bass which the label does so well – and featuring a subtle but firm kick while they’re at it.
