ARUBA RED releases charity single: ‘Search For The Hero’ in aid of Help Musicians

As the country enters its second month of lockdown, Aruba Red has re-recorded the iconic M People track \’Search For The Hero\’ with her own inimitable, soulful and serene style to send a message of hope to those who may be struggling during this time. With this extra special reimagining to be released on 15th May, Aruba Red pays tribute to the everyday heroes around us and within ourselves and will be donating all proceeds to music charity Help Musicians.

Aruba Red is no stranger to creating highly personal work imbued with poignancy and meaning. She has established a growing following for her fresh soulful sounds that inspire and uplift.

A Help Musicians funded artist herself, Aruba has received support from the charity for her wellbeing and has just been announced among the artists receiving funding as part of the charity’s Do It Differently Covid fund.

With ‘Search For The Hero’, Aruba hopes to celebrate our everyday heroes and give back to a charity that has helped her through her own personal challenges, both therapeutically and creatively.

Aruba Red said \”For so long I\’d looked outside of myself for someone or something to save me, I was very much in a state of victimhood and it wasn\’t until I was close to rock bottom that I truly dug deep and realised my own ability to change my experience. I was able to pull myself up and began truly understanding the beauty of life. Part of this was being able to access therapy via the wonderful organisation Help Musicians. Search For The Hero represents that journey to me, the lyrics perfectly encapsulate the notion of searching within yourself for what it is you need and taking active steps towards achieving it. I wanted to shine some light on the wonderful work that Help Musicians are doing to enable independent creatives to reach their potential, especially during this uncertain time.\”

Aruba’s own personal experiences, from suffering an abusive marriage, a lifetime of anxiety and panic attacks stemming from unresolved childhood trauma, the passing of her well-loved musician father Jack Bruce and birthing her own child, have culminated in the creation of her recently released ‘Shadow Work’ EP. The new EP is a highly anticipated celebration of feminine strength and follow-up to her critically acclaimed EP ‘Holy Waters’. The five songs on the new EP ‘Shadow Work’ describe a journey of spiritual and personal evolution, in her own words ‘purifying a lifetime of toxicity, my stepping stones to freedom’.

‘Shadow Work’ is a compelling body of work featuring Aruba\’s distinctive vocals supported by a cast of incredible talent including co-writer Renell Shaw (Rudimental) and Nathan \”Flutebox\” Lee (Asian Dub Foundation). This eclectic EP fuses alt soul and experimental production with live instrumentation, a powerful vehicle for Aruba’s artistry into the heart and soul of listeners.

Aruba Red’s journey continues, as she guides and supports her community to spiritual healing with guided meditation sessions, free birth pregnancy workshops, as well as \’Aruba Red\’s Women\’s Circle’ – a gathering celebrating sisterhood and the healing powers of the divine feminine, supported by Ernst & Young.
