Annemarie Picerno and Bob McGilpin receive nominations for the Josie Music Awards

Annemarie Picerno and Nashville producer- Billboard hit maker Bob McGilpin have received 5 nominations for the upcoming 6th annual Josie Music Awards to be held at the Dollywood Theater in Tennessee September 5, 2020. The awards show recognizes the achievements of independent artists around the world in every genre, and is the genius of Tinamarie Passantino and radio show host Josie Passantino, a formidable mother and daughter team pushing the boundaries in independent music not only on radio but at this years show, will be broadcast on Comcast Channel 9 & At&t U-verse Channel 99 in Nashville.

Despite the pandemic, independent artists have been a force in battling the challenges to #KeepMakingMusic.  Nashville was hit with riots, tornadoes, and the virus, along with long standing historical songwriter’s venues closing due to the economic breakdown from those events. Many artists cancelled tours, and musicians needed to rise to the occasion to keep the music flowing. While some were disheartened or gave up , Annemarie Picerno a Nashville singer, actress, and comedian teamed up with producer Bob McGilpin to record a catchy blues tune entitled “Money Pain.”

“It’s a sad thing to cancel tours and events, when you’ve worked hard at bookings and promotion all year, and many artists have turned to live feeds online to keep the music flowing. We all know the musician’s life on the road can be tough, along with making money,” said Annemarie. “When my producer Bob McGilpin called and asked me to sing with him on a song written by himself and Larry Morton, I was thrilled to record the song. “

Bob adds “Annemarie is a joy to work with as we work well together musically, but she’s just crazy enough to try new things, like make a music video remotely and put on Bongo Boy TV! She works hard at her music, but also knows how to laugh and even make fun of herself. When she said she was continuing with the music video during the Nashville shutdown, I couldn’t see how at first since we couldn’t meet on the production set, but she was one determined cookie.  I sent her the video clips from my home, and she made the video showing us collaborating and persevering in making music. We are thrilled to receive several nominations for the Josie Music Awards as well have our music on Bongo Boy Records Backroom Blues Volume 9 as well as the video airing on Bongo Boy TV to millions, along with airing on Rebel TV Productions on Roku and Apple TV. Most of all, we’re honored to be recognized while still having fun!”

Now a Nashville producer, Bob’s first release was 1978’s “Superstar” on Butterfly records which became a Billboard hit along with “Sexy Thing” and “When You Feel Love.” He had multiple major label record deals with Casablanca, RCA, and Butterfly/MCA and landed three #1 hits on the coveted Billboard Dance Charts. Annemarie is a Grammy member and Nashville entertainer not only performing live, but an award winning songwriter and vocalist with her original music released to radio, an actress, and comedian and was a 2018 Josie Music Award winner for her musical collaboration “Bonfire” which had several independent music artists sing on the production: Lisa Coppola, Jimmy Parker, Donna Jo, Benny Pitsinger, Steve Owen and cowriter Gene DiPierro of Hamilton Radio New Jersey. Her music is on several Bongo Boy Records releases and  Her music has depth of vocal range, and mixes genres of Country, Blues, Rock, Pop, and American Roots along with the mastery of multi instrumentalist Bob McGilpin.

“Music is not only how we make our living, it’s a creative outlet that comes from within our need to connect with people and express emotions,” says Annemarie. “I’ve also contributed to a musical project #TheSumOfUs by rock artist Sharon Lia,  an anthem of victory, resilience, and unity recorded by artists around the world. People need to come together, and artists can use their voices and make a positive difference.”
