5 Things You Need to Know About Wonderwood

The brand new, boutique forest summer event, Wonderwood, is upon us. Its debut event on Saturday 27th July will feature a large arsenal of house, bass, grime and garage stars, deep in the mystical forest of Witton Country Park. In the rolling hills of Lancashire, guests can find three bespoke stages, a luxury VIP area, mouthwatering global cuisine and awe-inspiring production, making it the UK’s must-visit one-day event this summer.

Here are 5 things you need to know about the first-ever Wonderwood in July:

Wonderwood is set in a 480-acre public park in the west of Blackburn. Around half of Witton Country Park is mixed woodland and parkland, while the rest is either farmland or rough grassland. The area now covered by the park was formerly owned by the Feilden family. In 1946 Robert Edward Hart, a local philanthropist, gave £35,000 anonymously towards the purchase of the park (total purchase price £64,000) for the benefit of Blackburn townspeople.

PierJam & BassJam

Wonderwood is the brainchild of the team behind two of the UK’s most popular electronic music event brands. Both PierJam and BassJam are a firm favourite with bass, garage, house and drum & bass lovers up and down the country.

PierJam is now in its fifth year of prominence, with a half-decade record of incredible events at the historic Blackpool and Hastings piers sat behind it and an endless stream of performances from some of the biggest names in dance music.

BassJam, in its triennial year of existence, is known for its explosive shows at Bolton’s Macron Stadium and the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester. In 2019 they bolstered their presence with new events across the UK, including a massive show at MK Arena with Andy C, Dimension & more.

Wonderwood will be laced with influence from both seminal event concepts throughout, mirroring the high-quality selection of artists and promising hotly anticipated potential.

Wonderwood is set out across three stages: Panoramia, The Warren and last but not least, Arcane. Each of the stages comes equipped with a different theme along with a genre-specific lineup.

Panoramia (the Main Stage) is flanked by 1000-year-old great oaks. Expect explosions of colour, foliage and flowers, and the biggest dance sounds and 1000\’s of like-minded people making up the crowd.

The Warren – Heavyweight beats, bass, grime & house will fill the tree-canopied void for hours upon hours. Look up for a canopy of colour and chaos as Wonderwood takes over the trees above and the floor below with a DIY lost and found ethic utilising a madcap variety of brick-a-brack.

Arcane – The Wonderwood VIP. For those in the know, it\’s one of the places to be, powered by the rock up sound system; a solar powered, four-wheeled, two up, two down leviathan of sound pulsating through the forest at 343 metres per second.

Creative Production

You may think you would be limited with what you can do with a festival set within vast greenery. If so, you’re wrong. Wonderwood festival is a sensory dream, with all five of the senses pushed to the extreme. Expect an abundance of engaging experiences throughout the day and night!
